Understanding the Procedure of Liposuction

October 19th, 2011

When you are interested in having liposuction make sure that you find a doctor that is right for the job.  You should take your time evaluating different doctors so that you find someone you are comfortable with and you are confident in.

Liposuction is something that you should be sure is done correctly. When you meet with doctors you should understand how your doctor plans to:

•    Evaluate your body
•    Reduce irregularities
•    Reduce blood clots

When you have your body evaluated you should be sure that the doctor is thorough.  This way, any asymmetries in your skin, stretch marks and skin tone can all be well accounted for before the procedure.

No matter where you are having liposuction done you want to be sure that the doctor is applying pressure to your thighs through compression devices.  These will ensure that you are able to have minimal chances of getting a blood clot throughout the procedure.

When you get liposuction done the fear of any lumps or bumps is very normal. Be sure to take time to consult with your doctor thoroughly before your procedure so you are able to understand the procedure and be at ease with the procedure.

Plastic Surgery Consultation

One of the most important parts of going through the plastic surgery experience is getting a consultation beforehand, in order to establish that the person is a good fit for the procedure. This information session is vital to making an informed decision, and can provide the person with an overview of expenses, risk, preparation, the surgery, and the healing process. Once the person is armed with this information, then they can decide whether they would like to move forward with their operation.

Consultation periods are essential, and are the hallmark of professional care and dedication. Come set up a consultation with us today!

Five Tips for Younger Healthier Looking Skin

October 5th, 2011

If you want to have healthier looking skin you should be sure that you understand how you are going to care for your skin on a daily basis.  You want to make sure that you take the time that you need to understand how you are going to develop the habits that are the most beneficial for your skin.

1.    Stop smoking
2.    Wear SPF

5.    Be gentle with your skin

If you are smoking on a consistent basis you will narrow the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layer of your skin. This will decrease your blood flow and because of the decrease of blood flow you have to realize that you will be taking away oxygen and nutrients from your skin.

Healthy SkinThe sun can have a huge effect on your skin.  When you are exposing your skin to the sun you have to understand that you will get wrinkles, age spots and even more freckles.

When you are stressed you may start to have more breakouts. There are a lot of skin problems that can result from the stress. As you are learning to manage your stress you may find a huge difference in the way that your skin looks.

The vitamins, nutrients and proteins that you can get from a healthy diet will really help the vitality of your skin. Make sure that you increase your vitamin C intake and lower your fat and carbohydrate intake.

Finally, do not be scrubbing your skin roughly.  You want to make sure that you only pat your face dry and that you are gentle with your skin to ensure that you are not putting any unnecessary strain on your skin.

When you are still not happy with your skin, it may be time for reconstructive surgery.  There are many different procedures that may help you be happier with the way that your skin looks.  Talk with a local plastic surgeon and see what your options are today.

Dealing with Loose Skin After a Liposuction

September 28th, 2011

There are many people that fear having liposuction done because they think that they will have too much loose skin left on their body after the procedure.  Although you may have some loose skin there are many ways that you can get that skin tightened up.

When you are attempting to tighten this skin you should make sure that you try…

•    Exercise
•    Weight lifting
•    Staying hydrated
•    Massage

When you are getting enough cardiovascular exercise you will be increasing the circulation to your skin.  Getting at least thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise a day can help you get nutrients out to your skin from inside your body.  This will may help increase the elasticity in your skin very quickly.

As you are lifting weights you will be able to increase your muscle mass which can really help with tightening your skin.  Make sure that you take time to lift weights at least three times a week to ensure that you are gaining enough muscle to help your skin.  Choose specific exercises that will target the area of your body that has the loose skin.

Drinking enough water throughout the day will help your skin to be more healthy and can help you restore the elasticity to your skin.

Finally, when you are massaging the area of your skin where you would like to get rid of the loose skin you will be increasing circulation to this area.   Massaging the area daily with firm pressure for a few minute can do wonders for the saggy skin.

Recovering From Your Facelift

September 9th, 2011

When you have just had a face lift you may be experiencing some discomfort, pain and tightness. Although many of these symptoms are normal, you want to make sure that you understand how you are going to heal effectively after your face lift.

To heal properly you should…Dr. Stewart FB Ad 1

  1. Follow all instructions that your doctor gives you. Make sure that you understand exactly what your doctor expects you to do while you are healing. Having the expectations clearly laid out is very important.
  2. Make sure that someone can help you take care of yourself for at least 48 hours after the surgery takes place.
  3. Take your pain medication on time and consistently.
  4. Avoid any strenuous activities for the first few weeks after the surgery
  5. Attend all follow up appointments
  6. Only take the medications prescribed by your doctor

By allowing yourself to heal properly you will be enabling the procedure to make the changes it was intended to make.  When you do not follow your plastic surgeon’s instructions you may be reversing some of the work that the surgery has done.

While you are healing you should monitor yourself closely.  If there are any extreme or sudden changes in your condition you will want to notify your doctor immediately.

Avoiding Premature Aging in Your Face

May 13th, 2011

Your face is going to be exposed to many different elements.  When you are out and about you want to make sure that you are protecting your face the best you can so that you can avoid signs of premature aging.Keeping your face looking and feeling young

Every day you should be…

  • Washing your face
  • Applying sunscreen
  • Staying hydrated
  • Wearing sunglasses

When you wash your face you should take the time to wash twice a day.  You want to be sure that you are washing with an exfoliating face wash and that you are scrubbing your face gently but enough to remove dead skin cells and other debris.

Whenever you are outside your face will be exposed to dangerous UV rays.  Taking the time to apply sunscreen will ensure that your face is as protected as possible from the rays of the sun that will wrinkle and age your face prematurely.

The more water that you drink the more elastic your skin will be.  As you drink water and stay hydrated your skin will look fresh and young.  Make sure that you are drinking enough water to keep your skin healthy throughout the entire day.

Finally, when you do not wear sunglasses outside you may start to squint on a consistent basis.  As you are squinting you will find that you will develop wrinkles on the sides of your eyes and that these wrinkles may become permanent.

Keeping your face looking young and healthy takes a daily and consistent effort. Start making changes today to ensure your face stays looking young.

Developing a Healthy Skin Care Routine

May 6th, 2011

Creating a good skincare routine is necessaryBeautiful Glowing Skin if you want to have young and healthy looking skin.  Starting this routine as early as possible and sticking with the routine will be very beneficial for your skin.

There are many different routines that you can take part in and finding the routine that works best for you is necessary.  No matter what routine you choose it should include:

  • Cleansing
  • Toning
  • Exfoliating
  • Moisturizing

When you are cleaning your skin you will probably use a gel or even a cream.  If you have oily skin you should use a water-based cleaner and if you have dry skin a creamier cleanser.  There are even medicated cleaners that you can use if your skin has a tendency of breaking out.

A toner is going to restore your skin to a healthy PH level.  It will also take off any make up or residue that is left on your skin.  The toner will close your pores and you want to make sure that you are not using toners that have alcohol in them.

Every so often you will also want to be exfoliating your skin.  It is necessary that you are exfoliating your skin to get rid of dead skin cells and any other build up on your face.

No matter what your skin type is you should use a water-based moisturizer and if you can find a moisturizer that includes glycerin and SPF, it will be optimal to use.
