Frequently Asked Questions
All surgeries have risks. There are specific risks with each operation. For instance, there are different risks with a
Breast Augmentation than with Liposuction. With any surgery there are risks of infection, numbness of the area of operation,
bleeding and scaring. All of Dr. Stewart's patients are pretreated with antibiotics to try and prevent infections. Fortunately, Dr. Stewart's patients have had very few
complications. For example, Dr. Stewart has done more than 8,000 breast augmentations and only had one patient develop
an infection. Any complication his patients may develop he is happy to correct.

The length of surgery depends on the type and number of surgeries performed. A Breast Augmentation ususally lasts an hour, an Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck about 2 hours, a Breast Lift about 2 and 1/2 hours. Liposuction can last 1 to 3 hours, a Facelift with Eyelid tucks about 4 hours. Dr. Stewart feels that a safe limit to any surgical procedure is 5 hours. Beyond this the risks of surgery increase. However, most procedures can fit into this time frame.
Time at home from work depends on the type of surgery performed. Many patients are able to return to work after 2 to 3 days following Liposuction, 5 days to one week following Breast Augmentation and up to two weeks following Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck.
There is no warranty or guarantee because of the subjective nature of the procedures. However, if a complication developes Dr. Stewart usually does not charge a few for any repair. There would however be reduced cost for the use of the surgical facility and/or supplies.
Any surgical procedure carries the risk of blood clot formation in the leg or lung, not just cosmetic surgical procedures. If a patient were to develope pain, redness, change of color or swelling in the calf and/or leg, difficulty or pain while walking, or pain in the lung or chest (with shortness of breath), the patient should immediately go to the nearest emergency room. Blood clots, in any form, can be life threatening and should be treated as an emergency.

Every surgery requires making certain incisions. There are usually well hidden. Every incision leaves a scar. Usually the scars heal very well and over the years become quite difficult to see. Patient photographs of post-operative results are available on this website and his staff will be happy to show more patient results in his office.
